  • What is a “Board Foot”?

    A board foot represents the volume of a board. A 1-inch-thick, 1-foot-wide, 1-foot-long board is one board foot.  We sell our lumber by board foot.

  • Is your lumber Kiln Dried?

    Yes, our lumber is rough sawn and kiln dried.  

  • What lengths do you carry?

    We typically carry lumber in 11’-12’ lengths.

  • What thickness do you carry?

    We typically carry 4/4 (1” rough) and 8/4 (2” rough) thicknesses.  (If you need something thicker, just ask!  We may be able to get something for you or build something to meet your needs!)

  • Do you offer milling/shop work?

    Yes!  We offer shop work, planing and straight line ripping on the lumber that we sell or kiln dry. We can also offer milling such as Tongue and Groove, Shiplap, etc.  

  • Do I have to buy the “whole” board?

    Yes, we sell the entire piece.

  • Do you carry Plywood/Sheet Goods?

    No, we do not carry plywood or any sheet goods.

  • Do you stock tabletops, mantels, stair treads, flooring or siding I can take home with me today?

    No, we custom create all these products. Therefore, nothing is available in inventory, it is all custom ordered.

  • Do you carry standard sizes for your tabletops, mantels, stair treads, flooring or siding?

    No, we do not have a standard size for any of our custom wood products. We create each piece custom, so it meets your specifications.

  • Do you offer finishing or installation services for any of your products?

    No, we do not finish or install any of our products.

  • Do you carry standard sizes for your doors?

    No, we do not have a standard size for any of our custom wood products. We create each piece custom, so it meets your specifications.

  • What species is best for an exterior door?

    We have used almost every kind of wood there is. There are multiple factors to determining the best species, e.g.,(sunlight, covered, direct rain exposure). We can make recommendations when we are quoting your door.


  • What kind of hinges do you use?

    Depending on thickness of door, 4” or 5” heavy duty ball bearing hinges

  • Do you have any of these specialty wood products in stock?

    No, these are all custom orders. Our suppliers try to have these products to us in 1 to 3 weeks.

  • Are your timbers kiln dried?

    No, the timbers we bring in are NOT kiln dried.

  • Can I order just one piece?

    Yes, but it may take several weeks. Our suppliers typically will hold a single piece until a larger order is placed.

  • What size logs can you saw?

    Typically, the most cost-effective saw logs are straight and have minimal limbs, branches and knots. We recommend logs be a minimum of 16" diameter, at the narrow end and not greater than 30" diameter. They should be a minimum of 8'3" long, but not longer than 16' 6".

  • Can you pick-up my logs?

    No, we do not have the ability to haul logs. We can offer suggestions of whom to contact

  • How long does it take to dry my lumber?

    This is a very complex question, as there are multiple factors, including species and thickness. The drying process can take anywhere from a few months to several years. Please contact us for more information.

  • Will kiln-drying kill insects in my lumber?

    Yes, our kiln drying process does sterilize lumber to help ensure no insects or larvae can survive.

  • Do I have to kiln dry my lumber?

    We highly recommend any lumber used indoors be sterilized and kiln dried.

  • Can I bring lumber to run in your shop?

    No, we reserve our shop for lumber purchased from us, or that we have kiln dried.

  • How long does it take to plane and rip the lumber I have selected?

    Depending on quantity, we can typically surface and rip the lumber while you wait.

  • What types of trim profiles do you make?

    We only offer surfaced 4 sides square edge.
